Both are dream islands. Both are an easy flight from Sri Lanka. But they deliver very different holidays, and choosing the right one is the difference between a good trip and a perfect one.
Choose the Maldives if…
- You want total relaxation: one resort, one island, no schedule.
- It's a honeymoon or anniversary and privacy matters most.
- You love the water: snorkelling on house reefs, diving and sandbank picnics.
The Maldives is at its best from November to April, when skies are clearest and the sea is calm.

Choose Bali if…
- You want variety, with temples, rice terraces, beach clubs and cafés in one trip.
- You're travelling as a family or group with different interests.
- You'd like to explore by day and relax in a private pool villa by night.
Bali's drier season runs roughly from April to October, ideal for sightseeing and sunsets at Uluwatu.
"The Maldives is about stopping. Bali is about discovering."
