The premium desert safari is a highlight of our Dubai tour: dune driving in the late afternoon, sunset over the sand, then a BBQ dinner and entertainment at camp. A few simple choices make the evening far more comfortable.
What to wear
- Light, breathable clothes in cotton or linen. Loose and comfortable beats fashionable on the dunes.
- Closed shoes or sandals you don't mind filling with sand. Many travellers simply go barefoot on the dunes.
- A light layer such as a shawl, scarf or thin jacket. The desert cools down quickly after sunset.
- Modest options that cover shoulders and knees are always a respectful choice.
What to bring
- Sunglasses and sunscreen, since the afternoon sun is bright even in winter.
- A scarf to protect your face from wind and sand.
- A phone or camera with a fully charged battery. Sunset photos are the best of the trip.
- Wet wipes and a small bag to keep sand out of your things.

What to leave at the hotel
Expensive jewellery, large bags and anything delicate. Dune driving is bumpy, so keep it light.
Good to know
Dune driving can be intense. If you're pregnant, have back problems or get motion sickness, tell us in advance and we'll arrange a gentler experience.
